With a bit of a delay, the veggie restaurant trend has slowly but surely also set foot in Brussels. After Chyl, Ami, and others, there’s another meat-free new kid in town: Dream & Food, a healthy eatery right next to Place Flagey, launched this October by Alain Degove.

It’s the first food project of the Frenchman, who completely changed careers and left his native Paris over a year ago for the Belgian capital: “I’m a food passionate and am friends with different cooks. I’m also the one who prepares the meals at home, and one day my wife and daughters stopped eating meat. I thought, they are right! All I did was bring these two elements together”, he explains the birth of his idea.

The many different recipes, carefully developed by Belgian-born starred chefs, are modern, health-conscious and slightly adventurous: on the menu there’s Japanese curry, risotto with cauliflower, roasted pineapple, and sweet potatoes, a multi-vitamin cheesecake, … Plus, everything is prepared with local, fresh, and high-quality products while also offering a number of vegan and gluten-free choices.

Interestingly, the dishes are served in glass jars which you can either warm up on the spot or at home. A great lunch or dinner option for conscious eaters.

But why Brussels and not Paris? “People in Paris are rude and life is stressful. I’m in a much better mood since I live in Brussels – just ask my wife! The Bruxellois are lovely people. The other day someone almost ran me over with his car, and of course the license plate was French,” he tells us with a wink.
