Talent watch: The HISK Affair at Gosset site

Opens Thursday, 24 June, 18-22h00 Brussels

Reputed Ghent art school HISK is coming to the Belgian capital, where it inaugurated a satellite art space in a former factory in Molenbeek last year. Playfully questioning the long-standing art fair model that has experienced quite some troubles during the ongoing pandemic, the 23 current HISK students have opted to present their midterm exhibition against the backdrop of an art fair scenography. Expect booths of various sizes, colored carpets, a screening room, a performance stage, a champagne bar, and of course a glimpse into the future of the art world with works by Elisa Pinto, Juan Pablo Plazas, and many others.

Summer vibes: Recyclart holidays

Until 30 July Brussels

Art center, workshop, bar and restaurant all-in-one, Recyclart opens its doors every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during the summer season to welcome you for drinks and food under the open sky in a relaxed setting. All dishes are 100% plant-based, with mouth-watering options such as vegan moussaka, cordon bleu and pierogi on the menu. Keep up with the changing summer programme (think music, Euro match screenings, exhibitions and more) on Recyclart’s Facebook page.

Talent watch II: Masters Expo 2021 at Royal Academy of Fine Arts

From 24 to 27 June Antwerp

Graduation exhibitions are the perfect place for curators, gallerists and all art enthusiasts to discover the artists of tomorrow. At Antwerp’s well-respected Royal Academy as well as three other locations in the city,  84 young artists and designers will present their graduation works, spanning across all genres from photography and sculpture to jewellery and printmaking. What’s more: This year you’re able to get your hands on a so-called “Mastercard box”, which contains 84 postcards designed by the students in collaboration with Studio Specht.

Birthday bash: Centrale turns 15

From 26 to 27 June Brussels

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Brussels’ Centrale for contemporary art invites you to a varied, arty program this weekend that will take place both inside and outside its brick walls. As always, there are several exhibitions to discover, but this Saturday art lovers can combine those with free concerts behind the St Catherine church, a so-called soundwalk through the neighborhood, and much more. Full program here. Happy Birthday!

Summer vibes: See U Festival

Until 19 September Brussels

This summer, options to catch some sunrays while getting a dose of culture as well as refreshing drinks are galore. Besides the above-mentioned Recyclart, there is also See U for example, a project that has managed to transform the former military barracks in Etterbeek into a gigantic playground. Every week from Tuesday to Sunday there’s a multitude of activities to choose from: dance classes, yoga, concerts, exhibitions, movie screenings, kids workshops, … or you can just drop by to hang out on the wooden velodrome and enjoy an ice-cold beer.
