Exhibition: River of Rebirth at Z33

“River of Rebirth” at Z33 in Hasselt revolves around the element of water as a source for culture and stories about creation, destruction, birth, and death: Rivers and their constant motion as a metaphor for the eternal and the temporary. With works by homegrown artists as well as international big shots from Thierry De Cordier, Roni Horn and Laure Prouvost to Cecilia Vicuña and Jessica Warboys.

Yoga: The Artist’s Gym at Morpho

Every Tuesday evening until 2 May, German artist Bernadette Zdrazil will give Hatha yoga classes at Morpho, aka The Refectory in Antwerp. It’s a lovely location full of artist studios, and if the sun’s out, you’ll roll out your mat in the picturesque monastery garden. Beginners welcome. Sign up here!

Exhibition: Leen Voet at M Museum

Vivid colours and geometric shapes immediately catch the eye in Brussels-based artist Leen Voet‘s vibrant paintings, drawings, and installations deriving from perspectives on life, painting and artistry. Topics range from reflections on the autonomy of the individual to the teacher-pupil relationship. This extensive exhibition at Leuven’s M Museum gives an overview of Voet’s artistic creations from the last 15 years.

Performing arts: Bâtard festival

From 5 to 8 April Brussels

Bâtard festival has been around for no less than 20 years, and is still going strong. This week sees a new edition under the title “Magic Cells”, which champions, as always, experimentation and local as well as international emerging artists, such as Ainhoa Hernández Escudero, Laurent Delom, and Julia Vavra. You can find the varied program, which takes place at Beursschouwburg and Le 125, here. Don’t miss the closing party on Saturday.

Music meets photography: Fifty Lab at Espace Vanderborght

Two in one: If you haven’t seen the captivating solo show of the vast oeuvre of German star photographer Peter Lindbergh yet, this Thursday is the perfect opportunity to do so, when Espace Vanderborght transforms into a music venue. Curated by Fifty Lab, you can not only discover the exhibition “Untold Stories” but also three musical acts: Later., Mankiyan, and movulango.
