🎸 📕 Over the course of more than a decade, Brussels-based @rayarayax – co-founder of art collective @blood.becomes.water – built an accidental collection of setlists: a growing archive of torn papers, ripped cardboard and smudged ink, left behind by 70 bands across 13 countries.

With the book ‘The Setlist Collection’, she brings this ephemeral trail to life – a time-travelling document of packed venues and sweaty crowds preserving a personal piece of music history. We caught up with the music-obsessed graphic designer to talk about it all. 🔗 seeyouthere.be

“Arch Future” at Xavier Hufkens in Brussels op

“Arch Future” at Xavier Hufkens in Brussels opened last week: An expansive solo show presenting the wide-ranging, multi-genre oeuvre of Chilean poet and artist Cecilia Vicuña, who was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale.

Heavily influenced by having been forced into exile during the military coup in the 1970s, themes of language, memory, feminism and extinction dominate her work.

Through site-specific installations, drawings, paintings, poetry, sound, and film, she addresses the power of collective activism versus the effects of unbridled capitalism and environmental destruction, and has spent decades reclaiming the indigenous knowledge of her homeland and positioning it in dialogue with our contemporary world.

On view until 2 August!

Artist watch: @oliviahernaiz is a Belgian-Spanish artist contrasting the investigation of serious political themes such as forced migration with visual joyfulness and vibrancy. These are some impressions from “Silencio”, her past show at Brussels art space @iselp_brussels

“Through the assemblage of materials – ideas of passersby, derelict houses, political logos, bank slogans and tales – I try to deconstruct collective beliefs. My practice is multiple. From painting and drawing to digital printing, human-size installations, model making and sound, the medium depends on the project’s intention”, she says.
