Opening: Pop-up summer grill at Park Spoor Noord

Antwerp’s Park Spoor Noord is already a great spot to hang out during the summer, and from this week on you’ll have one more reason to stop by, when Little Butcher’s Summer Grill opens its doors for the very first time. The pop up barbecue restaurant sets up shop in the park’s beautiful old coach house and offers everything from meat, fish and veggies to organic wine and local beer. Drop by for the opening party on Wednesday to check it all out!
Exhibition opening: Sara Bomans at CIAP

With “Het Kabinet” Hasselt’s contemporary art center CIAP gives emerging artists the chance to present their work over the course of a month. In August it’s the turn of Belgian artist Sara Bomans, a creative multi-talent working across many different genres from painting and theatre to installations and photography. At CIAP she’ll show a monumental selection of her drawings, taken from her series “Secret Thoughts”, a sort of shameless diary, and also works from her collaborations with Robert Quint and Remco Roes.
Music festival I: Microfestival at Espace 251 Nord
From 7 to 8 August Liège
This weekend sees the 6th edition of Liège’s Microfestival, one of the nicest mini music festivals in the country. Its lovely, family-friendly atmosphere makes it worth s visit as well as its handpicked, high quality line-up ranging from kraut rock to experimental electro. Plus, prizes are democratic, food is home-made and local, there’s a vinyl market and DJ sets between the concerts. This years highlights: Dutch psychedelic wunderkind Jacco Gardner and Denmark’s Iceage.
Shopping: Stock sale at Klein

Antwerp’s Klein specializes in well-crafted, simple and beautiful interior objects and food, not only selling lovely products but also hosting summer dinners and more. This Friday and Saturday during their special stock sale you can get your hands on organic perfumes, gorgeous lights and Japanese glasses as well as cocktails, cold beers and delicious Broer Bretel coffee.
Night out: Roof of Love at Antwerp Pride
Friday, 7 August Antwerp
On the occasion of Antwerp’s Pride celebrations, the city’s Café Twilight and Leopold team up to throw one huge colorful party under the name “Roof of Love”. It’s all going down under a big-sized outdoor market roof with DJ Zinno, d’Steph and others behind the decks and chili and burgers for the hungry. What’s more: entrance is free!
Music festival II: Wastelands

Once again the Belgian branch from music mag Subbacultcha and Ghent cultural venue 019 join forces to bring you the wonderful Wastelands festival, an intimate, one-day, music bash limited to a few hundred guests. Expect a super hip crowd, healthy bio snacks by Roof Food and a carefully selected, international line-up full of great discoveries featuring Finnish dream pop by Jaakko Eino Kalevi and the lush, captivating soundscapes of Swedish-born Molly Nilsson. Not to miss!
Finissage: Adriana Lara at Komplot

If you haven’t made it to “Het Product” yet, a solo exhibition by Mexican artist Adriana Lara at Brussels’ independent art space Komplot, you can still come check it out this week or at the closing event on Saturday. Lara’s work crosses all genres from installation to video art and performance, and she repeatedly plays with symbols and pop culture.
