Exhibition tip: Belgian artist Harold Ancart at David Zwirner Gallery in London!
A couple of years ago Belgian artist Harold Ancart left his home country for buzzing art capital New York City, and the move has definitely paid off. He’s become quite the shooting star, a position that’s being cemented at the moment with his first solo show in the United Kingdom, at no other than heavy hitter David Zwirner. “Freeze” brings together a selection of new works by the Belgian painter which are inspired by the recent glacial winter in New York. Accordingly, many paintings depict icebergs in Ancart’s distinctive style that meanders in between the figurative and the abstract, featuring, of course, his seemingly endless signature horizon line where vibrant colors meet shapes reduced to their rudiments. An exhibition that might signify a major stepping point in the rising artist’s career, and a must-see if you’re in London before 22 September.
