Your Belgian art agenda for the week: Sound walks, art in ruins, and a 12-hour festival for body and mind. See you in Brussels, Leuven, and Vilvoorde!

Everything Festival at Bodies in Space

Sunday, 4 May, 10-22h00 Brussels

For one full day, Bodies in Space opens its doors to the first edition of “Everything Festival”, a 12-hour gathering devoted to community, experimentation, and the full sensory spectrum. There’s no fixed genre: The program flows between yoga, qigong, group hypnosis, sound healing, lucid dance, live electronics, AV installations, performances and DJ sets. A hidden mini-cinema loops short films, and to sustain the senses, there are vegan dishes, homemade pizza, natural wine, coffee and tea tastings. A soft invitation to linger, explore, and be part of a shared frequency.

Sound art route: Hear here at STUK

Runs until 9 June Leuven

Rudy Deceliere —Shallow Water

Fifteen sound installations scattered across Leuven invite you to experience the city not just with your eyes, but through your ears. “Hear Here” takes you on a (free!) walking tour through historical university buildings and heritage sites – part of KU Leuven’s 600th anniversary celebrations – with works that reflect on silence, resonance, and the stories embedded in architecture. From a medieval watergate to a forgotten school and a grand baroque chapel, each location hums with site-specific sound art by both pioneers of the genre and emerging Belgian voices.

Festival: Horst at Asiat Park

From 1 to 3 May Vilvoorde

Horst stands out in Belgium’s crowded festival landscape through its unique blend of music, contemporary art, and architecture. Held at the former military site of Asiat Park, the three-day event transforms concrete ruins into a playground for sound and space. Circular stages, site-specific art, and bold scenographies set the scene for a lineup that bridges international names and local talent. This year features 115 artists, from heavyweights like Four Tet to homegrown Nosedrip. See the full program here.

Exhibition: Compound Lenses at Beige

Runs until 31 May Brussels

Beige, a Brussels-based contemporary art gallery with a strong penchant for conceptual practices, presents “Compound Lenses”, a group exhibition developed in collaboration with Russian artist Marina Pinsky, who divides her time between Brussels and Berlin. Besides Pinsky’s works, the show features creations by Sofia Duchovny, Nancy Lupo, and Gianna Surangkanjanajai. In line with the exhibition title, all exhibited works could be considered compound lenses – the layered structures used in optical instruments: Systems of multiple lenses that refine, shift, and deepen what we see.
