As every autumn after the summer festival break, there’s an abundance of EP and album releases hitting the shelves. We’ve scouted the local music landscape for 7 new releases by Belgian bands you should listen to this fall. From sun-filled road trip tunes and folkie adventures to slightly darker soundscapes  – these are all made in Belgium.

Tin Fingers: Young Mother

We only discovered this promising new indie outfit hailing from Antwerp last week, just in time for the five-piece’s concert at Trix this Friday. Tin Fingers makes melodic, melancholic and atmospheric indie synth pop reminding of a mix between Future Islands, Dive, and Washed Out. They just released their debut EP “No Hero” featuring six tracks with the single “Young Mother” being on the top of our list.

Recorders: My Very Empire

“My Very Empire”, exploring universal themes such as love and death, is the second single of Recorders’ new EP “I’m Losing My Mind But I’ll Do Without” – an emotional tribute to frontman Gordon’s dog Birdy, who sadly died last year. It comes with a heart-rending video shot at a beach in Iceland, where Gordon lived for two months this Spring. Birdy was at the musician’s side for more than 15 years and played a major role in the video of Recorders’ breakthrough song “Purple and Gold”.

BRNS: Encounter

BRNS‘ second full-length album “Sugar High” is hitting the shelves this week. If the band’s upcoming record is anything like their recently released single “Encounter”, you’re in for a dark, punchy and slightly disturbing affair.

Wild Shelter: Crushed

Wild Shelter, who gave us their very first interview ever last year, have been heavily surfing the radio waves this summer with their catchy debut single “Feel the Way You Do”.  Now the rising musical project founded by two Brussels-born brothers released a new track called “Crushed” which is fittingly accompanied by a lush, sun-filled video shot on a road trip through the US.

Kings of Edelgran: The Gate

Kings of Edelgran are set to release their debut album later this month, on 26 October to be exact. For the occasion the Belgian band invites you to its release party at Botanique, presenting a catchy mix of indie folk infused with prog rock elements. The first single “The Gate” of the upcoming record “Totm” leaves you wanting more, especially if you’re a fan of Bon Iver and the likes.

Intergalactic Lovers: River

Belgian indie rockers Intergalactic Lovers just released “River”, the most recent single from the band’s third album, “Exhale”. You can discover the four-piece from Aalst live on stage on 1 November at Eupen’s Alter Schlachthof or the following day at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels.

Pale Grey: Blizzard

This month Liège indie poppers Pale Grey will be releasing their new album “Waves”. Here’s a first taste of it with “Blizzard”, a track that’s dreamy and catchy at the same time. The release party is scheduled for 13 October at  AB Club in Brussels.
